Ayia Marina Church

The villager’s most important church is dedicated to Ayia Marina and it is built in the centre of the village. It was built in the 19th century in Byzantine style. During the last years, it has been maintained in good condition.

The church is made out of stone and the parvis is paved with slabs. Internally, it is flat and simple with no women’s loft. It can receive up to two hundred people. Above the sanctuary, there is a unique holy fresco depicting Christ. The iconostasis is made out of wood, carved and has many icons. Two of the oldest icons, after the eparch’s wish, have been kept at the eparchy as items of great value. The two Psalters, which are graven, were donated to the church by the Developmental club of Anarita. The Despot’s throne, which is also graven, was donated to the church by the civic council.
